3. Laboratory activities

3.1 National scientific and industrial metrology program

This program relies on the expertise of the laboratories in the French national metrology network (RNMF), which comprises four national metrology laboratories and six laboratories associated with LNE. These laboratories hold standards for fundamental quantities, their multiples and sub-multiples and derived units, with the lowest possible associated uncertainties.

The main activities under this program are :

  • fundamental research in physics, chemistry and biology, leading to the design and development of new methods or experiments; some of these may involve participation in new unit definitions based on fundamental phenomena;
