6. Conclusion
By combining crop production with energy generation, agrivoltaics is an important tool in the energy transition. However, as the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe) reminds us in its definition, it must not be a simple cohabitation that would irrevocably turn in favor of electricity production at the expense of the crop, but rather an agricultural project first and foremost. The agrivoltaic structure must therefore benefit agricultural production, in particular by protecting crops from the effects of climate change.
Agronomic knowledge acquired in the field has shown that there are periods in a plant's development when shade has a negative impact on its growth, and periods when, on the contrary, panels can effectively protect crops from the vagaries of the weather.
