4. Developing solar capacity on farms

The agrivoltaics presented in this article therefore has a double virtue: on the one hand, it improves the conditions of agricultural production, and on the other, it produces energy at a competitive cost. In the geopolitical and climatic context of 2023, it contributes to the twin objectives of food and energy sovereignty.

One question remains, however: in an age of ecological and energy planning, what strategy should public authorities adopt to deploy solar capacity on agricultural land?

These deployment strategies can be analyzed along three axes: the LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy, which takes into account all costs over the lifetime of an energy production source) of installations; agricultural added value; equity in the geographical distribution of projects.
