5. Development of reasoned agrivoltaics

Agrivoltaics clearly represents considerable potential both for agriculture and for the energy transition, provided it is developed in concert with our territories. That said, we need to adopt a holistic approach to anticipate the challenges that photovoltaics associated with agriculture can pose, and to ensure that it is properly managed.

5.1 The challenges of photovoltaics on agricultural land

The economic value of an energy project is currently out of all proportion to that of a farming project: 1 hectare of photovoltaic panels generates an annual income of around €100,000, while the income per hectare from a vineyard in the Hérault region is less than €10,000.
