1. Genetically modified organisms

1.1 Definitions

In France, the Commission de Terminologie pour le Vocabulaire des Sciences et des Techniques de l'Agriculture et de l'Agroalimentaire (Terminology Commission for the Vocabulary of Agricultural and Agri-food Sciences and Techniques) published a decree on September 14, 1990, listing recommended terms in the field of genetic engineering, their definitions and synonyms, an English-French index and an index of terms and improprieties to be avoided.

A notice published in the French Official Journal on July 6, 2008 added to the vocabulary established in the Order of September 14, 1990.

The Code de l'environnement, legislative part, title III, genetically modified organisms, gives the following definitions:
