5. Non-food uses of milkfat

In recent years, the cosmetics sector has seen the most numerous developments in the use of milkfat, either in its entirety or in certain complex lipids. These include the following products:

  • cremerol HMG (Amerchol Corp., USA): hydroxylated milk triglycerides used as ingredients in lotions, milks, creams and emulsions, at 3-5%, as an emollient;

  • soaps based on milk fat as is or on 0.5 to 1% Cremerol HMG, which is used for its softening, moisturizing and stabilizing properties;

  • lactomide (Pentapharm Ltd, USA): milk fat liposomes used in aqueous dispersion, at 2 to 5%, to balance water loss from the epidermis and thus promote regeneration of the horny layer of the epidermis (stratum corneum );

  • lacprodan PL-75 (Arla Foods Ing., PB): milk phospholipids...
