3.1 Spirulina production

Global spirulina production is estimated at between 3,000 and 20,000 t/year in 2020. .

Its large-scale cultivation began in Mexico in the early 1990s, then in China, before being produced in other parts of the world such as the United States, Thailand, India, Taiwan and elsewhere.
