3. Potential of ITS-based systems and services

Evaluations show that ITS is one of the ways of meeting the challenges of urban mobility. By transforming data into information, they enable existing infrastructures to be optimized in time and space, and new services to be built to improve quality of life and make more judicious use of private cars.

The deployment of ITS requires innovative approaches guided by usage and by the possibilities offered by technologies, and in particular those of mobile Internet and satellite geolocation, which are accessible to all today with the significant drop in mobile Internet packages on smartphones.
