6. Public policies for urban logistics
Logistics is playing an increasingly important role in city policies and environmental strategies. In the still recent past, cities saw freight traffic as an activity they had to regulate first, and few saw logistics activities as a service contributing to the functioning of the city.
Recent years have seen the emergence of direct-to-consumer logistics services, as well as a host of innovations, which have transformed the way cities are viewed. Today, public strategies for urban logistics are emerging that go beyond mere experimentation.
