2. Sampling strategy
Sampling is a vital link in the entire measurement chain, as it is the stage that generates the greatest uncertainty. To limit sources of error, it is therefore essential to position sampling points correctly, and to choose a sampling method suited to the information required.
2.1 Sampling point
The choice of sampling point(s) depends on the medium being analyzed. Indeed, recommendations for representative sampling will not be the same depending on whether we are analyzing industrial piped effluent, ambient air where meteorological conditions will have a strong influence, or indoor air where furniture and building materials, sources of VOCs, may interfere. Some recommendations are presented in the following paragraphs.
