How do POI and PPI relate to safety management systems (SMS)?

The POI and PPI fall within the scope of emergency management, in order to :

  • identifying emergency situations ;

  • emergency response (human, technical and organizational resources).

For OHSAS 18001-certified SMS, this corresponds to chapter 4.4.7.

They are also a response to a regulatory requirement (chapter 4.3.2 of OHSAS 18001).
