1. Non-classification regime (NC)

Any industrial or agricultural operation likely to create risks, pollution or nuisances, particularly for the health and safety of local residents, is potentially a classified facility for environmental protection.

Activities governed by the legislation on classified facilities are listed in a nomenclature, which makes them subject to authorization or declaration, depending on the level of risk or inconvenience they may cause.

The nomenclature of classified installations is divided into four headings:

  • substances (toxic, flammable, radioactive, etc.) ;

  • activities (e.g. agri-food, wood, chemicals, waste, etc.);

  • so-called IED activities (corresponding to activities emitting certain industrial substances);
