4. Characteristics of airborne microflora

All the techniques described above have enabled us to acquire a certain amount of knowledge about airborne microflora, linked to its multiple sources, diversity and dispersion. In a confined space, airborne micro-organisms come from two reservoirs: one exogenous, most often corresponding to an outdoor/indoor air transfer, and the other endogenous, resulting from a specific biocontamination with multiple sources. Identifying sources is an essential step in the study of microbial aerosols, especially when it comes to assessing human exposure.
