2. Technical description of the innovation

2.1 SPME-Adapter

The device is shown in figure 1 . It is made of stainless steel compatible with vacuum techniques and treated with a silica surface deposit to prevent adsorption or reaction of VOCs with the material. The SPME-Adapter features a septum held in place by a nut for introducing the SPME fiber, and a MicroQT valve (Entech) for evacuating the sampling container and filling it with sample gas. The assembly is screwed onto a vacuum-compatible flask (Entech). The dimensions of the SPME-Adapter and the configuration of the sampling bottle have been designed to ensure that the SPME fiber is in direct contact with the air to be analyzed, and to promote radial diffusion of VOCs towards...
