6. Conclusion

Soils are in danger. Action is urgently needed. Awareness is spreading throughout society. It's vital to move away from urbanization that consumes and destroys soil, and to propose other models that are more economical and more respectful of our environment.

Until now, urban planning has focused mainly on the transformation of dense urban areas. The time has now come to embark on soil projects in territories described as "peripheral", where urbanization is the result of superimposed public and private actions, and more or less concerted, often contradictory initiatives. Changing the way we look at these situations begins by considering soil as an essential agent in the ecological and social functioning of areas larger than the perimeters of our intervention.
