4. Conclusion

Over the past 60 years, knowledge of wildlife crossings has evolved considerably. We no longer speak of "game crossings", but of "all-wildlife crossings", to take into account as many species as possible. As a result, for some years now, the notion of restoring ecological continuity has been systematically included in the study of infrastructure projects and the construction of wildlife crossings. It is regrettable, however, that in some impact studies, the study of ecological continuity combined with that of species behaviour is not sufficiently robust.

For the construction of new infrastructures, rules governing the dimensions and spacing of structures (for both small and large fauna) must be applied to avoid reinforcing existing habitat fragmentation.
