3.1 Importance of green infrastructure dependencies
Green areas correspond to all surfaces forming part of the infrastructure right-of-way, with the exception of direct support structures. They are subdivided into two categories: those directly associated with the operation of the structure (shoulders, ditches, etc.) and those accompanying the structure (embankments, setbacks, etc.).
Under certain conditions, green areas along infrastructures can be home to a variety of habitats. On a national scale, these areas represent several hundreds of thousands of hectares, making up an extensive network.
