Population equivalents (PE); population equivalent

One p.e. corresponds to a discharge of 60 g/d of BOD 5 (five-day biochemical oxygen demand), as defined by the 1991 European directive on urban wastewater treatment.

Filtre compact ; compact filter

A compact filter system comprises a primary treatment stage, generally carried out by an all-water tank (AWT), followed by secondary treatment by biological filtration.
