Tertiary circuit water treatment with cooling tower

This section describes tertiary circuit water treatment and associated issues, in particular discharge into the river.

These treatments are of two types and concern the 11 power plants (table 1 ) located on the banks of rivers and with cooling towers, also known as aerorefrigerators, i.e. semi-closed circuits, due to :

• the concentration of poorly soluble compounds in the circuit due to evaporation, which in some cases may require treatment to prevent scale precipitation;

• the potential or proven development, at certain times of the year, of pathogenic micro-organisms (in particular, amoebae and legionella) for which...
