7. Conclusion

This article deals with treatments for removing all insoluble (or particulate) constituents present in natural fresh water used as a raw material in industrial processes. These treatment operations are generally grouped together under the heading of "water clarification." This article (and a similar article on dissolved compounds [G 1 171] ) therefore covers technologies that are also used in drinking water treatment and even in the purification of aqueous effluents (urban and industrial), particularly for the recycling or reuse of this water.
