2. Image acquisition system

Designing a vision system involves determining the hardware components of the acquisition system and defining the most appropriate image processing chain. Each application is specific in terms of both hardware and software, and generally requires the validation of a prototype. The first step is the precise specification of the visual tasks to be performed: what are we trying to measure? With what precision? At what rate? ..., taking into account the full range of possible situations. It's very important that the manufacturer plays an active role in defining what the system needs to measure, if it is to be successfully implemented. The vision specialist's role is to translate these needs into technical specifications: lighting, cameras, optics, mechanical layout, processing unit and algorithms.
