5. Conclusion

This article begins by explaining why the importance of local energy management looks set to grow in the coming years, leading to an increase in the number of microgrids. It then presents the ERMESS tool developed by the PIMENT laboratory for the TwInSolar project. This is a genetic optimization algorithm for the optimal design and dimensioning of energy microgrids, based on performance criteria, operational and design constraints, and the economic context. Finally, the case of the design of a microgrid on the Terre-Sainte campus in Saint-Pierre de La Réunion is used to demonstrate the use of this algorithm. In particular, the importance of the desired self-sufficiency rate on the sizing of the required systems was highlighted. Following the various optimization calculations carried out, a self-sufficiency target of 70 to 75% seems achievable with the installation.
