1. Cell skeleton or cytoskeleton

Bernard MAURIN, Patrick CAÑADAS and René MOTRO are research professors at the Mechanics and Civil Engineering Laboratory (CNRS 5508 joint research unit) at Montpellier 2 University.

One of the major challenges of cellular biomechanics is to contribute to the understanding of physiological and pathological processes at tissue or organ level: bone remodeling, tissue repair, immune response or metastasis development. To achieve this, it is necessary to clarify the link between the mechanical behavior of adherent cells in interaction with their environment (extracellular matrix and/or neighboring cells) and their biological functions, such as differentiation, gene expression, apoptosis or cell migration
