3. Current traceability systems

To analyze current traceability systems, you need to consider them in relation to your needs: what is the real purpose of setting up a traceability system within the company? who will be the "beneficiaries"?

These two points will determine the practical details of application, and therefore the human and technical resources to be deployed.

As mentioned in the introduction, numerous systems exist, with varying degrees of technical sophistication and performance... from the first traceability system, which can be summed up in a spiral notebook, a pen and colored stickers, to mini-computer devices with smart labels and radio frequency, or even DNA tracers.
