Contrary to Cartesian analytical thinking, which embraces complexity and compartmentalizes it, Goldratt considers that any system is extremely simple and that, if we take note of interactions and interdependencies, it is possible to identify a few levers for action to understand, control and improve it. Goldratt initially tried to disseminate his ideas through workshop scheduling and control software (OPT Optimized Production Technology ).
Faced with lukewarm success and sometimes hostile reactions, he decided to publish his first book in 1984: "Le But, un processus de progrès permanent"
