6. Specific features of the building and civil engineering branch
Due to the specific nature of their activity, the small size of many of their companies and, above all, the limited lifespan of their worksites, the building and public works (BTP) professions are subject to specific provisions in terms of occupational risk prevention.
Although these provisions were initially a derogation from common law for companies, the Labour Code now includes a chapter entitled "Special coordination provisions for certain building and civil engineering operations".
Law no. 93-1418 of December 31, 1993 (codified in articles L. 235-1 et seq.) transposes the European Temporary or Mobile Construction Sites Directive 92/57 EEC of June 24, 1992, and various decrees (codified in articles R. 238-1 et seq.) complete this framework with regard to :
