9. European regulation 2023/988 and product safety assessment standards

According to the regulation and its article 5: "economic operators shall only place or make available on the market safe products."

Article 6 of the regulation recommends that product safety assessment should take particular account of :

• a) the characteristics of the product, in particular its design, technical features, composition, packaging, assembly instructions and, where applicable, installation, use and maintenance instructions;

• b) the effect of the product on other products where the use of the former with the latter can reasonably be foreseen, including the interconnection of these products;
