5. Example of the application of predictive maintenance 4.0 to a fleet of elevators
Every day, elevator manufacturers (Kone, Schindler, Thyssengroup) transport billions of people with machine fleets numbering several million units. According to ThyssenKrupp, more than twelve million elevators worldwide make seven billion trips every day, transporting more than one billion people. And yet, every year, breakdowns render elevators unavailable for a total of 190 million hours. To improve safety and reduce breakdown times, elevator manufacturers have undertaken to generalize intelligent predictive maintenance using IoT platforms developed by major service companies (IBM, General Electric, Huawei). In France, for example, for hospital elevators, Kone offers a predictive maintenance service by equipping each elevator with 200 connected sensors that send data to IBM's Watson IoT cloud computing platform. Schindler uses General Electric's Predix solution with the Edge computing...
