7. Conclusions and limitations

In the preceding paragraphs, we have shown the usefulness of adhesive bonding compared with other joining techniques, the rheological characteristics of adhesives and the various treatments required for a bond to remain strong over time. It has been shown that bonding involves three components: the adhesive must be "compatible" with the surfaces of the two antagonists, which may be of different natures.

Tests to determine the quality of the interface are necessary. However, as we have seen, adhesion tests are not always carried out under actual joint stress conditions (temperature, humidity, stress mode, dimensioning, etc.). It is therefore essential to be critical of the set of tests used, in order to get as close as possible to actual conditions of use.
