5. Examples of results

All the examples presented here come from work carried out at CEMEF (École des Mines de Paris) to solve practical problems encountered during industrial implementation.

5.1 Tube dies

The main requirements for PVC pipe extrusion are uniform thickness all around the pipe, and temperature control to avoid overheating which can impair product quality.

We are interested [6] in the manufacture of a 100 mm diameter, 5 mm thick tube, extruded at a rate of 300 kg/h on a counter-rotating twin-screw machine. The die is shown in figure
