Many chemical substances are suspected of having endocrine-disrupting properties.

7.1 Chemical substances

Chemical substances suspected of causing endocrine disruption include :

  • organophosphate pesticides/insecticides (malathion, chlorpyrifos, atrazine);

  • PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) in insulating materials, adhesives, paints, paper, etc;

  • PFCs (perfluorinated compounds) in non-stick coatings (Teflon), textile waterproofing, waxes, insecticides, etc. ;

  • polybrominated flame retardants;

  • Triclosan: an antibacterial present in soaps and toothpastes;
