5. Aeronautical transport

5.1 Principle

Strictly speaking, there are no regulations laid down by international bodies. However, the regulations issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration are the most widely used. The requirements for fire resistance are set out in several chapters of FAR 25. The aim of these regulations is to limit the flammability of materials in flight, and to gain time for evacuation in the event of an emergency landing. The performance targets specified in the aeronautical field are 90 seconds for evacuation and 4 minutes for rescue arrival. The tests carried out must test all the system's weak points.
