4. Conclusion and outlook

The use of liposomes as a new fluorescent tracer in strip tests and immunoassays paves the way for other solid-phase applications in the future. Among these applications, the ELISpot technique (solid support corresponding to a nitrocellulose or PVDF membrane) seems highly appropriate, as do DNA or protein chips (solid support in a glass slide).

The ELISpot is an analytical test for counting cells according to their secretion. The principle involves capturing molecules secreted by cells on a solid support using specific antibodies. After removal of the cells, the immunocomplex is revealed by a peroxidase-coupled antibody, using an insoluble chromogenic substrate whose localized precipitation generates colored spots or immunospots.
