6. Conclusion

Collections of graphic documents are an important part of the cultural heritage of France and the rest of the world. The methods for detecting and identifying fungal biocontamination on graphic documents, as well as the treatments applied to them, are the same as those used in other fields (health, agri-food, etc.), with the difference that these treatments must be compatible with the materials making up these documents (paper, cardboard, parchment, leather, textiles, glues) and have no damaging effect in the short, medium or long term.

Faced with the recurring problems of biocontamination in graphic document repositories, the toxicity of biocides and their incompatibility with certain materials, the curative approach has been replaced in recent years by preventive conservation.
