9.1 Oil venting measurement
All systems installed on combustion engines that use fluids can have their operation disrupted by the presence of gas in these fluids. This is mainly the case for camshaft phasers driven by engine oil.
In the context of research and development of internal combustion engines for automobiles, it became necessary to be able to measure the level of aeration in engine oil. The presence of air significantly increases the compressibility of the oil, thereby hindering its use as a hydraulic fluid and promoting cavitation erosion of certain engine parts (bearings, etc.).
