7. Bearing installation and maintenance

The probable life of the bearing can be calculated on the basis of its load and speed. However, premature failures are sometimes observed, and may be due to :

• incorrect choice of bearing, resulting in unsuitability for the application parameters: type of load, speed, temperature, pollution, condition of shafts and housings, etc;

• faulty assembly or maintenance of the bearing.

The purpose of this paragraph is to give instructions on lubrication, protection, installation and maintenance of the bearing.
