2. Trim requirements
Brake linings have to meet a number of requirements in addition to purely functional ones, with the coefficient of friction in first place and low wear in second.
Additional constraints are added: technical, economic, comfort and environmental.
The selection criteria are in the following order:
the stability of the coefficient of friction µ ;
asbestos-free trim ;
a silent lining for vibration-free braking;
a seal that maintains good hot performance and does not spark;
a seal guaranteeing wear of the shoe/rotor in relation to the desired application and without corrosion of the counter-material;
minimum compressibility...
