Transmission testing

With the exception of special cases (industrial applications, railways, etc.), the supplier offers standard or derived transmissions from its catalog, all of which have been extensively tested on specific test benches: endurance, fatigue, tightness, speed, etc. It consists of a power chain (involving one or even several cardan joint transmissions working at an angle) closed by a device which provides torsion at the torque selected, possibly variable or even zero, by angular offset between the input and output of said device; a motor drives this closed chain at the desired speed, possibly variable, and delivers just enough power to overcome the sum of losses in the chain. This test bench must include devices that provide angularity variations in each of the joints tested, or even the operation of sliding transmissions, which brings the test bench closer to actual operating conditions....
