3. Structural response to pressure wave effects
The following is a summary of the main numerical methods, based on finite element techniques, for calculating the response of structures to the effects of pressure waves. The aim is to determine the kinematic (displacements) and mechanical (stresses) state of the system under study (on-board equipment), subjected to an imposed acceleration resulting from the wave setting in motion its base (hull, deck, bulkhead, etc.).
