7. Filtration

7.1 General rules

The presence of impurities is a frequent reason for fluid renewal. Impurities, mainly metallic particles and foreign oils, affect tool performance and the surface finish of machined parts.

Other impurities can lead to deposits on installations.

Chemical pollution is also caused by process oils leaking into the emulsion during operation.

Table 4 summarizes the criteria for choosing a filtration system.
