Nominal part geometry

Surface bounded by portions of simple geometric surfaces (planes, cylinders, cones, spheres, torus) or complex geometric surfaces (e.g. Bézier surfaces).

Note :

it is defined either by conventional drawings (2D drawing), or by a digital mock-up, or 3D model, in the case of computer-aided design (CAD).

Nominal geometric element

Point, line or surface that can be linked to nominal geometry.

Note :

the surface of a cylinder is a geometric element associated with a size (the cylinder's diameter). The axis of a cylinder is another geometric element (derived from the first: called the median element or derivative element).
