INTRODUCTION
Metal bonding is a highly technical field, with a wealth of possibilities and experience built up over fifty to sixty years.
Having begun in 1940 in the aeronautical industry, metal bonding is now widely used in all industries.
To help readers design bonded parts and give them ideas for further developments, we present a large number of case studies, taken from all industries, especially mechanical engineering, aeronautics (the most technically advanced field) and automotive.
The experience acquired in these areas, pioneers in bonding, can then be transferred to all metal processing industries.
This article is the second in a series devoted to metal bonding:
- Metal bonding. General information. Features ;
BM 7 621 - Metal bonding. Applications ;
- Metal bonding. Find out more,
the design of bonded joints, the technical characteristics of glues and adhesives for metals and the families of adhesives used to join metals having been studied in the first section. The technical characteristics of numerous adhesives from different suppliers, standards (French and foreign) and a list of adhesive suppliers and equipment (for application and testing) are given in the documentation [... ].
Readers will find it useful to consult the following general articles on bonding materials:
- Bonding of materials. Mechanisms. Classification of adhesives;
- Bonding materials. Characteristics and use of adhesives;
- Bonding of materials. Applications ;
