4. Delayed monitoring
Deferred monitoring consists in taking samples either continuously at discharge points or at monitoring stations, or occasionally in the environment. These samples are subjected to laboratory radiological analysis.
Off-line monitoring contributes to the detailed quantitative and qualitative assessment of discharges, making it possible to draw up reports on discharged activities and guarantee compliance with discharge authorizations.
In terms of the environment, it helps to verify the absence of abnormal radioactivity in receiving environments (air, sea, soil, rivers, groundwater, etc.), as well as in bio-indicators (fauna, flora), and to guarantee the control of discharges by constituting a control loop.
