The aim of discharge monitoring is to check compliance with discharge authorization limits, and to detect any abnormal developments as quickly as possible.
Environmental monitoring is designed to verify the absence of radiological impact in the various receiving environments (terrestrial, marine, hydrological, hydrogeological and atmospheric) and in the food chain. Samples are taken by the operator in these different environments, as well as in food products, in order to verify the absence of abnormal evolution and thus guarantee an insignificant impact.
On the basis of activity levels released over a period of time, with knowledge of radionuclide transfer factors along the food chain to humans, and taking into account local consumption habits, calculation codes estimate the dosimetric impact on a given population. This modeling enables...
