5. How can we overcome prejudice, and what are the expected benefits?

It's easier to criticize than to build, and there are many prejudices about passive building. Here are just a few of them.

  • The construction technique is imposed (false)

  • Passive buildings are expensive. In the short term, it is, but the extra cost is quickly amortized through savings on energy bills.

  • It's not aesthetic (subjective criterion).

  • Windows can't be opened (false).

Thanks to their bioclimatic design, passive buildings offer the following advantages:

  • virtual independence from fossil fuels;

  • more luminosity in the various zones;

  • more comfort in winter and summer ;
