Energy diagnostics require acquiring basic concepts for proper application of the process.
This section covers the essential terms related to conducting an energy audit, as well as some more general definitions in business management.
3.1 Rational use of energy (URE)
The field to which energy diagnostics and, more generally, energy savings and energy optimization relate is known as rational use of energy (RUE). This field mainly covers end use, i.e. the use of energy by consumers, but the principles, recommendations, and approaches of ERU can be applied throughout the entire energy chain. These consist of implementing the necessary actions to optimize a system's energy use, starting with an energy audit.
