Energy study of an energy-using structure to assess its overall energy situation, quantify potential energy savings, and define the actions needed to achieve these savings.

Energy audit

Methodical examination and analysis of the energy use and consumption of a site, building, system, or organization, with the aim of identifying energy flows and potential for improving energy efficiency and reporting on them.

Energy performance

Measurable results related to energy efficiency, energy use, and energy consumption.

Energy performance indicator (EPI)

Quantitative value or measure of energy performance defined by the structure.
