3. Improving industrial equipment and optimizing industrial processes

Here is a checklist of specific actions (similar to an “EC sheet”) for each major application, to be used in conjunction with the audit. All of these measures are already in use in the industry, with measurable gains in terms of kWh, cost, and CO 2 .

3.1 Compressed air

Only 5 to 15% of the electrical energy consumed by the compressor is converted into useful mechanical energy at the point of use. There are multiple sources of loss: heat (70–90%), friction, leaks, and unnecessary overpressure. It is therefore advisable to:
