7. Conclusion

7.1 Solid sorption/liquid absorption comparison

For a very long time, the comparison between liquid absorption systems and solid sorption systems was heavily weighted in favor of liquid absorption systems, which account for a limited but real share of high-power liquid chillers for air conditioning.

Nevertheless, we could be witnessing a turning point for two reasons.

The first reason is that hermetic solid sorption systems have found a few niches - still marginal in terms of market size, but real - where they are succeeding in establishing themselves, or at least competing with liquid absorption.

  • First and foremost are low-temperature regenerative liquid chillers, a fast-growing market...
