2. Sorbant-sorbat pairs

The main sorption-sorbate pairs based on refrigerants are listed. In 2015, the only sorption units on the market used water or ammonia as refrigerants. Alcohols (notably methanol) and hydrogen can also be used.

These are mainly adsorbents, but salts are also being considered.
